Water Element

Expressed through the Kidney and Urinary Bladder rules the bones, marrow, brain, reproductive organs, excretion of urine, growth and development, storage and utilization of reserves according to our inherited constitution. This includes financial reserves. This element holds our intergenerational patterns, houses our jing or essence which lays the foundation for our constitutional base. The relationship of primary influence on this element is with our parents. The need of the mind related to this organ pair is certainty. Emotional expression is fear and courage. This Element is sourced from the 1st and 2nd Chakras.

Earth Element

Expressed through the Spleen and Stomach rules digestion, produces the blood, rules muscle tissue and the ability to nourish ourselves on all levels from the physical to the spiritual. The relationship of primary influence on this element is with our children. This could also be an animal or pet, anything we have chosen to take care of as part of our family. The need of the mind related to this organ pair is variety. Emotional expression is motherly love and the formation of healthy boundaries and ingratiation or the people pleaser personality. This Element is sourced from the 2nd and 3rd Chakras.

Wood Element

Expressed through the Liver and Gall Bladder rules the sinews and keeps our physical and emotional systems flowing smoothly, it provides the energy to clear physical, emotional and environmental toxins. This Element holds our greater vision and initiates our plans and strategies. The relationship of primary influence on this Element is with our spouse or partner. The need of the mind is significance. Emotional expression is acceptance and anger. This Element is sourced from the 3rd Chakra.

Fire Element

Expressed through the Heart and Small Intestine rules the circulation of blood, houses our shen or our authentic self, opens us to love and compassion for ourselves and others. The primary relationship is with the self. The need of the mind related to this organ pair is to love and be loved. Emotional expression is joy and bitterness. This Element is sourced from the 4th Chakra.

Metal Element

Expressed through the Lung and Large Intestine rules the immune system, respiratory system, how we breathe in life and then express our creativity in the world. The relationship of primary influence is with the greater community. The need of the mind related to this organ pair is self expression. Emotional expression is grief and happiness.
